Day 20 - Gettysburg and Washington, D.C.

We took a bus tour through the battlefields of Gettysburg and learned all about the three day battle that took place here during the Civil War. Our tour guide was very animated and it was interesting to see where an important part of our history took place. It would be fun to come back sometime and see a reenactment of the battle. Apparently they only do reenactments for three days in July, so we missed it by a month. Jack was interested in the tour and asked a lot of questions afterwards, but it was lost on Matthew. To him it was just a bunch of empty fields. He did like looking at the canons though.

After lunch we went back to some of the battlefields to take more pictures because the bus only stopped in two places, then we drove the short drive to Washington, D.C. We are here for four nights. It will be REALLY nice not to have to pack up for a few days. After we checked into the hotel we walked over to the White House and then ate dinner because little man was starving. It was really humid walking around at 9 o'clock at night so I know we will be getting a lot of complaining from the boys tomorrow. Trust me, I'm not looking forward to the humidity either. But I am looking forward to showing the boys Washington, D.C.
