Grand Teton/Yellowstone - Day 11
Matthew was very excited to go on another bear hunt today. We didn't encounter any bears on our hike, but we did see a couple of moose up close. They were busy eating and could care less about all of the humans snapping their picture. We took a boat across Jenny Lake and took a 2 mile hike (round trip) to a waterfall. There was snow in the mountains and the boys had fun throwing snowballs. For once, Matthew didn't complain about the hike and Jack has learned to accept it as a daily occurrence, so he doesn't put up a fight anymore. After our hike we ate lunch and then headed to Yellowstone which is right next to Grand Teton National Park. There was a lot of snow in the south side of Yellowstone, which was surprising since it's almost July. We stopped at Old Faithful and were lucky enough to only have a 20 minute wait until it erupted. It is quite a sight and Jack and Matthew thought it was pretty cool. After stopping at the Visitors Center we continued on to our hotel just outside the park in Montana. We made a few stops along the way to photograph Bison and Geysers. After we took pictures of us standing near bison, we discovered that they can run more than 30 miles per hour, so standing as close as we were was probably not the smartest thing we have done on this trip. The mosquitos were out in force, so we quickly retreated to the safety of our car. It was another late night with the boys going to bed at 11 pm.
